Sailing Sookie www.artofhookie.org The Dana 24 has always been high up in my list. While it isn’t in my near future the day will most certainly come. In the meantime I’ve run out of boats to search. While I hate to use the term done, Sookie is finally put back together and rigged. Now if I can only find the time for seatrials, all I need now is a new set of eyes. Sailing Sookie www.artofhookie.org the venerable Nor’sea 27 one of my most cherished designs is off my list. The search for the worlds best "she" worthy bluewater sailboat continues. Ive got a potential partner on the new boat and so much crazy good love going on but I'm getting ahead of myself. For now I'm ditching my Spade anchor and going back to my Rocka. Ive also started a Patreon "don't shoot the messenger. Bangarang, check out our Patreon https://www.patreon.com/Artofhookie because man cannot live on bread alone The most awesome music here was created by the very talented Vana Liyahttps://youtu.be/RYs8qT5A7nE Check her out, she is one of youtubes biggest secrets

Sailing Sookie www.artofhookie.org I have a feeling that this will span many videoed, the Bristol Channel Cutter 28 is off my list. It’s just too much maintenance for one person. If I had a partner I’d be all over it but that’s a whole different can of worms. The real question is am I going to list Sookie for sale or ship her to the east coast. First I had to jump on my Brompton and ride it to Canada.

Sailing Sookie www.artifhookie.org Check out my new favorite sailing Vlog WindHippie sailing, link in comments. Spring has finally arrived, small boat projects, road blocks and off island exploration. My search for a Bristol Channel Cutter is getting red hot. the float planes are back with a vengeance, living on a runway can be interesting. Other than that is slow lazy days as I start my search for a warm winter getaway.

Sailing Sookie www.artofhookie.org the challenges I face of sailing solo and I’m opening the doors to buying a Bristol Channel Cutter the worlds finest Bluewater sailboat. I’d hoped to have an interview with a friend who having circumnavigated on his Crealock 37 has downsized to a 28’ BCC for a southern ocean circumnavigation. ill try and catch up with him before he sets off but this is the perfect time to discus why I don’t sail solo and the challenges my vision presents for me. Sailing Sookie www.artofhookie.org Sookie has a visitor, a 24’ wood, engineless Lyle Hess. The night before I had been going over my charts do a renewal of my oar club statice. You have to sail 100 miles without an engine entering and exiting 3 marinas. I’ve done this before on Sookie but it’s time to do it again. Watching a real sailor skillfully enter and exit my harbor is one of my favorite pastimes as opposed to the people with engines who come in and crash into everything. After 10 days away from the boat I found a small amount of motivation and am almost back on track but from now on I will be taking many more breaks from the boat, I’m burned out. Sailing Sexy www.artofhookie.org my Brompton folding bike is one of the best additions I’ve added to my sailing life. I’ve done long distance bike tours all over the place on these wonderful little bikes but that’s not what they were made for. Small, super compact and really fun to ride. They make getting to the local farmers market easy as a snap, the front T-bag can carry a weeks worth of grocery’s back to the boat and open the road of exploration from any anchorage. I’ve been using Clever Cycles out of Portland Oregon for all my needs for years. Their customer service is legendary and lightning fast.as usual this was filmed on my iPhone

Sailing Sookie www.artofhookie.org this isn’t what I had intended on posting but almost all my video footage was lost when my iPhone crashed. Like almost all of these videos this was filmed and posted on an iPhone 6s. Lots of what ifs hanging in the air but as always life is outrageously perfect. My new Brompton super light was built with love, much more on her to come. The rainy season has arrived so I’m back at work earning my freedom once again.

Sailing Sookie www.artofhookie.org another frustrating week in on the boat but this one was different, the kitty is busted. Time for a vacation away from the boat and then off to start rebuilding the refit fund. All and all, life is good and with a little bit of luck my bionic Brompton will arrive today. Each week I get closer to finally having all of my eggs in one basket. All first world problems I can assure you, if you have the means I highly recommend giving the slow life a second look.

Sailing Sookie www.artofhookie.org. No, I’m not really sailing around the world with a duck but damn he is cute! still filming on my iPhone 6S while I sort out growing pains with my Fuji X-T3. Chillin with boAT punX between projects. Their engine has seen better days but nothing a 16’ skulling oar cant fix. So I survived winter, spring has spring and the next 7 months will be pure bliss, then I’m moving to the east coast for a warm winter. Sailing Sookie www.artofhookie.org Simple thoughts on the foundation of a small Bluewater sailboat. While my primary use for this boat is as a writing lair and my secondary use is for gunkholing it doesn’t stop me from wanting to create the perfect Bugout boat just in case. Being able to easily and safely heave to is an essential requirement of the blue water sailboat, the smaller the boat the more important this feature becomes. He needs me. Audition tape with Shelly Davall and Harry Nilsson Special thanks to J. Scott Cellars for provisioning Sookie wirh a shit ton of wine www.jscottcellars.com
